All is fair in love and war

I thought I would do another quick review this month since there has been 5 Mondays (or in this review's case, Tuesdays), so why not review a broswer game I've been addicted to. Its a game called Supremacy 1914.

It sounds simple, you play as a leader of a real life country and you have to conqure the whole map. The twist is that it is set during WW1 so there is an actual reason to taking over everything, unlike the Civ games where you just conqure the work because "reasons".

In my first game I started playing as East Libya. A small country and I had the hard task of trying to take over Egypt and West Libya and East Algeria. My first day involved Egypt trying to attack me, fail and then request peace. I made peace with him as we had a plan to conqure the whole map together.

Soon things started going south. I started to take land and then lost it as I didn't have the troop backing that I needed and all the land that I got, was overrun by East Algeria as it had more troops as it was a larger country than me. Thanks to Egypt he is now helping me fight them off while taking over a lot of land and I am building railguns to help myself.

So, if you love broswer stratergy games that are based in WW1 and actually take real time to complete things (like actually 4 days to complete a railgun) then Supremacy 1914 will appeal to you as it does to me.

Check out the game below at: Supremacy 1914 Game

My song of the week is from a YouTuber that I like to listen to called JackFrags who colaborated with another YouTuber called Boyinaband (go check out his other stuff by clicking on his name). I like the song really well, even if Battlefield 4 flopped badly.

Mine is better than yours!

Okay, okay. We get the point. I supose people will always argue over which system is the best and what not but it gets on my nerve.

Each system has its good and bad things. For example, PCs are the most powerful way to play and have a large aray of games. But depending on what games you play, the community can be quite toxic or Russian. I say "or Russians" because they are usually the toxic ones as evident to the right.

(Warning: Might want to turn your headset down as it can be quite loud at parts.)

I suppose its not just Russians in CSGO that can be annoying though. Its also the PC players who say "PC Master Race" or the console players who keep mocking us because of their "Exclusives". This type of arguing is just childish and is why the gaming community is still not taken seriously.

So, how can we fix it? It wont be an overnight thing but if we all learn to respect each other's preferences and maybe not cause arguments and strive together to make the media and others take gaming as a serious hobby and for some, job.

Thats just my view on this whole debate.

This weeks song is Hero by Pegboard Nerds. Watch it below and till next time.

Taking down the terrorists.

Exciting news! If you own a PC you can sign up for the Rainbow Six Siege alpha, even if it is only a small test group. I hope I get into the alpha and relay my thoughts on it to people. Anyway this weeks top 5 is about my top 5 games where you take down the terrorists or play as the terrorists.

#5 is not really a game, but a gamemode for Garry's Mod. I am talking about Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT for short). In TTT you play as a terrorist, however there are different roles. You can be an standard terrorist, a detective investigator or a Traitor to the terrorists. Your role is randomised and can change the gameplay greatly. Its a fun gamemode to play and can cause you to no longer trust your friends or people in general as you betray them or get betrayed.

At #4 we see Splinter Cell: Blacklist. I wasn't a huge fan of Splinter Cell games up until Conviction game out, and I thought I would give it a try since I am a TC fan. Blacklist further improves on Conviction and sees you, Sam Fisher, to stop terrorists from performing their acts of agression against the USA and in the end, stop them from killing the POTUS. I loved the co-op and it brought back the MP from previous installments.

#3 sees Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Its a no brainer, you play as Naked Snake (aka John, aka Big Boss, aka Venom Snake, you get the point. He has had a lot of names). Your task is to extract a Russian scientist, who gets taken hostage by a 3rd party, you get injured and go back into Russia to stop nuclear war. You fight the 'Cobra Unit' who all have special powers and at the end you kill your boss, save the world and get the medal. But at the cost of Snake losing trust in his country.

#2 is a favourite of mine, called Rainbow Six Vegas 2. As I have stated in the past, I am a fan of TC and TC games in general.I picked Ranbow Six Vegas 2 as it is the newest installment and the one I've had most fun with. You play as Bishop, an elite member of the Rainbow counter-terrosism unit. It is your job to stop the Russian terrorists (I think they're Russian) and you stop a terror plot. You also have MP and Terrorist Hunt, which is by far the best Co-Op mode ever made.

If you know me, you'll know that at #1 is Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Its the purest shooter. Its the classic Counter Terrorist vs Terrorist. Its hard to get into but its very rewarding, espcically when you get an ACE (whole team wipe). Its a good game that can teach you how to aim in a game and how to play an FPS tactically. Go check it out on PC or Xbox 360.

My music choice for the week is Murs - Okey Dog, check it out below.Till next week everyone! o7

ITS PAYDAY FELLAS!

So from the title you probably got what this is about. This is a review of Payday 2, one of my all time favourite games.

So it all started in 2011 when Payday: The Heist was released by Overkill software. This recieved massive amounts of praise from the PC community as there wasn't really any bank robbing games.

Fast forward to 2013 and Payday 2 (or PD2 for short) had dropped onto the world, this is what must have inspired the upcoming GTA V Heists as your heists in Payday, though few, are actually never the same. Little details from civilian placement to the amount of camera's in the building.

In PD2 you have a crew of 4 with the original crew being Dallas, Wolf, Chains and Houston (formerly Hoxton, will be explained later).
The crew caused controversy as everyone who played PD1 hated Houston as he wasn't the 'real' Hoxton from the first game. Hoxton had been arrested by the FBI as he was caught with blueprints of all the previous locations that the Payday Crew had robbed.
This Payday game saw real stealth as in the first game there was no stealth option, but now there was meant people had to start playing smart.

Dallas is the brains of the group, the leader among men, the 'true' patriot. Also known as Mr.Steel, he owns the First World Bank which is the first thing you rob and is (hopefully) getting ported into Payday 2 so we can actually stealth it!
Chains is Dallas' "yang". Chains is an ex-military American known for his braun and heavy weaponry. Chains is a smart man, but he is there to be the groups bruiser. Chains has a connection to John Wick (who makes a cameo in the game).
While Chains is the tough guy of the group, he is tame compared to our Sweedish compadre Wolf. Wolf is, to put it lightly, crazy. Thats why we all love him though (not as much as Hoxton).
Finally, the least favourite character (who is original, sorry John Wick) in the game, Houston. I rarely see people pick him by default, he is just bland and annoying, shame that he is Dallas' brother then. I really dislike Houston and he still has the guts to wear the Hoxton mask...

In 2014, Overkill started the #FreeHoxton campaign by where we got a free mission where we could rescue and the play as 'Old' Hoxton which made almost everyone happy. Got to love that British accent and the British banter.
Before we got to free Hoxton we had the cameo from John Wick (shame no Keeanu Reeves VAing though :C) and we've also got Clover, a female Irish heister who was the apprentice of Hoxton before things went south back in Ireland, and recently we've got a Croatian heister by the name of Dragan.

So if you love heist games but don't own GTA V or just want an experience focused on heists and heists alone, pick Payday 2 up. It is available on X360, PS3 and PC. It will be coming to X1 and PS4 shortly.

My song of the week is Skillet - Not Gonna Die. I love this song, I've been playing it all week though it may not be everyones taste of music I thought I would feature it as my song of the week. Enjoy and see you all next week.

A look at the coming month.

I have to say one thing before this blog starts. The blogs will now be posted on Mondays as I have things to do on Sundays now. Sorry for that but Mondays just fit into my life really well. Now lets look at the month of March and gaming...

PAX East is going on this month, starting on the 6th and ending on the 8th at the Boston Convention Center. On the 12th to the 14th Rezzed 2015 will be happening in London.

The first important release of this month is the Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army Trillogy coming out for X1, PS4 and PC on the 6th.
The 10th sees two big games coming out, firstly DmC: Definitive Edition for X1 and PS4 and Hotline Miami 2 for PS4, PSVita and PC.
Battlefield makes a return on the 17th with the really interesting Battlefield: Hardline, which the beta impressed me (X1 users can download it on the 12th digitally and start playing it then if you have EA Access).
Slender: The Arrival releases on PS4 on the 23rd and on X1 on the 24th.
The 24th also sees the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection release on X1 and PS4 which includes BL2: GOTY and BL:The Presequel.
The last notiable game release of this month would be Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty for the PS3 and X1, but it doesn't have a release date as of yet.

To all Forza Horizon 2 owners, the new Fast and Furious Movie pack releases on the 27th for both X1 and X360, this just makes me want to get the game and maybe get my own X1 as I am a massive fan of the Fast series and I can't wait to see the newest movie when it releases.

This month I can't wait for BF:Hardline and the Sniper Elite Trillogy releases.

My song of the week is Eminem - Guts Over Fear ft Sia, watch it below. Till next week.
