Give me your money now.

So. Early Access is a thing.... Its a thing that sounded good at first. But now its just a thing that is killing PC gaming.

If you don't know what Early Access it, it kinda explains itself. A company can make a game available in an early access state (often in an alpha state) and they say the community can help further the development of the game.

While this is true, as in the example of DayZ SA where the community has helped detect some bugs, glitches and exploits, it can also lead to some bad things.

One example of Early Access being abused was a game called 'Towns' where the developers abandoned the project because "he wasn't making enough money to pay rent and buy food". Although this may be a valid reason, it left everyone who bought the game with a sour taste in their mouth and have said they will boycott the company who started development and have said they will discourage people to buy any of their games they may release in the future.

However, Valve have changed their ToS on Early Access and have stated that "do not buy an early access game if you have doubts about it, or don't want to support the games development. Buy at your own risk". Still, games such as DayZ (Over 2 Million Copies Sold) or games like Insurgency (Now completed) are doing well and show that Early Access can be a good thing.

Whats your guys thoughts on this? Let me know down below and until next time.

This weeks song is "Can't Stop" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I like the Red Hot Chili Peppers as their songs are energetic and catchy. Plus its one of the bands my dad listened to so from a young age I've listened to their music. I picked this live performance because I couldn't find the music video in the video finder in Blogger and because this is better than just having a lyric video.

Let me all up in your sandbox.

I really couldn't think of a good title this week... So I am just going to put it bluntly, this month's Top 5 is about my top 5 sandbox games.

Grand Theft Auto V is at number 5. I loved it when I played it on my X360, and one of the reasons I got my PC was to play GTA V, but slowly I lost interest when they kept delaying it to the point I'd rather get my X360 out and go play some Red Dead Redemption. I enjoyed the world but I didn't engage with the characters and they expected you to connect with Micheal or Franklin, but I didn't. They felt too stereotypical for me to enjoy.

Speaking of which, at number 4, Red Dead Redemption. This is probably my favourite Rockstar game to date. It was an unusual setting, we rarely see games set in the Western times which gave it a fresh feeling from the overused WW2 and Modern settings that were popular at the time. Its a shame that no PC port came as I loved playing with my old buddies on the 360. I would always ride around on my horse and take in the landscape. If there is one game that deserves a HD re-release for XO, PS4 and PC it has to be this game.

At number 3 we see Skyrim.... I lie. At number 3 we see my favourite Elder Scrolls game and probably a lot of people's Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion. The reason I prefer Oblivion over Skyrim is that, sure Skyrim was expansive but I didn't feel that the landscape was that detailed. It was bland. However Oblivion's landscape was much more detailed, varied. Sure the combat wasn't as crisp (unless you installed mods) but it felt rewarding starting a quest as there was no quest markers to follow and you actually had to figure out where to go to find things. You were not treated like a baby, which is what I liked.

Number 2 sees a game I talk about quite a bit. DayZ, specifically DayZ Standalone. Its a weird game to include. The world often features you dying to Bandits or Zombies but that's what I love. I love the adrenaline from a firefight, I love the challenge of avoiding zombies, I love the thrill of almost dying of starvation to find a can of peaches (which is the best food in the game). Its a joy to play with friends, even if you have to run 30 mins - 2 hours to find them. I love it when people actually roleplay and not just shoot you on sight.

I am going to make a few honourable mentions, I considered Dark Souls, Garry's Mod, Borderlands 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Middle of Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Resident Evil 1 HD Re-remastered.

But there can only be one top sandbox game in my opinion. Its another game published by Bethesda. It is Fallout: New Vegas. I had a hard choice between Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, but I thought I would put New Vegas as, although many claimed it was a spin off or a DLC with DLC, it improved greatly on Fallout 3 with the Hardcore mode and the factions feature. The only thing that Fallout 3 has over Fallout: New Vegas is that Fallout 3 had Liam Neeson in it.

This weeks song is House of the Rising Sun by Five Finger Death Punch. The music video give off a Fallout vibe, which is one of the things I like and I could imagine it would be a good driving song. It has a techno intro which most people don't like so if you want to skip that go to 1:42. Anyway that's all for this time, have a nice week and until next time.

Tanks for the memories

This weeks late review is a review of World of Tanks (WoT).

If you don't know what WoT is, it is basically Tank TDM. You start out with a tier 1 tank and you must battle and earn EXP to be able to research other tanks. You then buy the tanks and repeat.

It isn't the most realistic tank combat game, it is based on Hit Points as oppose to killing the crew or engine like War Thunder's tank combat. Its fun though as it is more like an arcade tank shooter. WoT is to War Thunder what the good CoD games are to the good Battlefield games. Its less realistic and faster paced but somewhat enjoyable at times.

I like playing as the Americans or Germans as they have some of the best Tank Destroyers but it depends how to like to play. The game can be played anyway you want to and sometimes you can dominate the enemy with a certain tactic.

WoT has spawned World of Warplanes (which failed badly because War Thunder came out first), World of Warships which is in closed beta and World of Tanks: Generals, which is a 1v1 turn based strategy game which is mediocre.

World of Tanks, its available on PC and Xbox 360 with a Xbox One version rumored to be coming soon. Will let you know in an update.

My song of the week is 2 songs as I couldn't pick."I'm So Sorry" by Imagine Dragons which was used on the Battlefield: Hardline and Assassin's Creed: Syndicate trailers. I love Imagine Dragons, they make amazing songs. And "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa ft Charlie Puth. I love this song as I am a fan of the Fast and Furious series so this one is kind of sad for me but a nice tribute to Paul Walker.
And till next week peeps.

May the month be with you

So. Its the Revenge of the 5th, with yesterday being May the 4th (be with you). Lets look ahead and see whats coming out.

Yesterday we lost the Developer of Lost Planet 3 and Call of Duty: Finest Hour. Rest is Peace Spark Unlimited.

Today saw the release of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, for next Gen and PC. Its a follow up of Wolfenstein: The New Order and from what I've seen, it looks amazing and one of my friends who is hard to impress is also enjoying it.
The 7th sees PROJECT CARS being released on PC, with its PS4 and XO release following shortly on the 12th.
The big hit of the month is The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt on the 19th. I've not played any of The Witcher games, like Dragon Age. I want to play both but I have no time.
Finally. Ultra Street Fighter 4 is being released on the 26th. I can't be the only one who is getting tired of seeing Street Fighter releases every year or so. Please say I am not the only one.

TBA for this month, Don't Starve: Giant Edition for the WiiU and Life is Strange: Episode 3 for PS3, PS4, X360, XO and PC.

This time of the year in gaming seems to be slow for releases with only two big releases happening. The Witcher 3 and PROJECT CARS. My prediction is that PROJECT CARS is going to be the sleeper hit of the year as it looks promising and hopefully the best racing game to date. Only time will tell.

So, any games I've missed? Anything you thought should be mentioned? What (if anything) are you going to pick up this month? Leave it down in the comments below. And until next time.

My song of the week is a remix of that one song of last year that everyone seemed to love, Turn Down For What. This time remixed to sound like a song from the Trap Genre. Check it out below.
