You want us to buy what?

At the end of last week Valve released what many deemed unmoral, paid mods. Now if you don't know what mods are, they are basically community made modifications for games, commonly found on PC games. They range from unofficial fixes to DLC sized quests.

I get why companies make DLC, its to expand the game and to keep people interested in the game. The modding community in some games is also strong, say Skyrim where there are 100s of mods being made monthly even though the game is 3 years old now. So when Valve added the pay for mod feature, the PC community almost rioted.

I and many others could understand if Valve had implemented a donation service instead of an upright "you must pay to get this mod" system and like many others we think that if a mod is good enough, the creator should get some money for it. The other unethical part about this was that Valve and the creator of the base game were taking a 75% even split (not 7.5%) of the money from sales and leaving the the mod creator, who had put in all the hard work, with a mere 25% of the sales.

In my opinion that is just wrong.... I could understand if it was 5% for Valve and 5% for the creators but any more and that's just a big no-no. Anyway, as of today Valve have removed the paid for system and are going to/ have already implemented a donation system.

This week I have two songs of the week as I couldn't decide which one I should put on. The first one is 'Speedom (WWC2)' released by 'Tech N9ne'. This one came out last week and I love it as it features 2 of my favourite rappers. The second song is 'Wrong Side of Heaven' by 'Five Finger Death Punch'. Till next week everyone.

Sometimes the bad guys are the best.

A new top 5 this week. This week we are looking at the top 5 bad guys in gaming (in my opinion).

#5 - Hitler. Now I know this is kinda cheating but in Sniper Elite V2, Sniper Elite 3 and Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombies you can kill Hitler and what most people like doing, shooting him in his balls. I mean, whats not to like? You get to kill one of the most hated leaders of all time 3 times. Now we just need a game where we kill someone who isn't Hitler or any other form of Hitler.

#4 - Any Dragon in Skyrim. Why any Dragon? Because on PC (which I play Skyrim) my Dragon could be a normal Dragon, Macho Man Randy Savage or Thomas the Tank Engine.... And lets be honest, hearing *CHOO CHOO* off in the distance is the most terrifying thing possible. Don't believe me? Listen to the clip below.

#3 - Yourself? Let me tell you why you are a bad guy. In any game that allows you to make moral choices you either make a morally right choice OR you make a morally bad choice. Personally for me it depends on the situation. If I want to get the good ending then I go for the good decisions, if its Mass Effect I renegade whenever possible, the only good decision I made in ME was letting Kaidan die, because no-one likes him. I'd rather have a space racist than a whiny useless Biotic, plus I got Liara for Biotic needs.

#2 - Master Miller. This one is complicated as it isn't Kazuhira (Or Kaz for short) Miller. Its Liquid Snake impersonating Kaz throughout MGS. Basically, Liquid Snake hijacks a nuclear weapon facility and threatens to cause war if his demands are not met. Kind of drastic but you know, Kojima doesn't create normal games (and we love him for it :D) but its stealth aspect was amazing and at the time it was revolutionary. It was close to being The End from MGS 3 as his battle is amazing, or can be avoided totally.

#1 - Albert Wesker... Albert is a classic. At first he seems to be like a strong team leader at the beginning of Resi 1. Then at the end you found out that Wesker is the reason for the whole outbreak. The interesting thing wasn't the main games but the spin off games, Resident Evil: Outbreak File 1 and File 2. These games didn't have any of the main characters but instead made you play as minor characters during the Raccoon incident. If you haven't played Resi Outbreak and have a PS2, go buy them as they are interesting games that remain canon.

This was a kind of weird list as unlike usual, I worked from 1 to 5. It was refreshing and helped me shape my list instead of thinking for hours on end.

And my song of the week tackles an issue in the world. Just thought I would share it with people in the hopes of it making a different to at least one person.

And till next week everyone.

Lynch everyone on sight!

So, I play a game on my browser that I play every now and then, called Town of Salem.

If I remember correctly, a while ago one of my songs of the week was a song about Town of Salem, from BoyinaBand and Minx.

This game has become popular through youtubers playing it (such as Minx and ChilledChaos). It is basically 15 people in 1 game. There are 3 types roles, Townies (the good people), Neutral (can win with anyone but must complete their objective) and Evil roles (such as the Serial Killer and Mafia) and must be the last man/group standing to win.

The funniest thing is that you could have a really stupid town as a Serial Killer or Mafia. Or you could be a smart townie who has to convince the town of who is evil or not. Or be that one guy who is a Jester and mess the town up.

There are a wide range of roles that each have their own ability such as the Jailor who can jail and execute any target or the Escort who can stop someone doing their duties once a night.

It is a fun and free game, and if you don't feel safe playing it on your browser you can get it on steam for 5 pounds.

Check it out, it is a fun time waster.

My song of the week is a classic from 30 Seconds To Mars, called From Yesterday. I am going to link the full song AND the mini movie that they released.

A look into April

Hope you all had a happy Easter, I know I did since I got to see my Uncle (we didn't actually go down to his this time). Anyway, here is a look into April.

Insomnia 54 just happened this past weekend, wish I could have gone as it looked epic and a few people I know went.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin comes out on the 7th for XO and PS4.
I am Bread comes out for PC on the 9th, if you haven't checked it out already, you should as it is what Goat Simulator would be if the goat was a piece of bread.
The big release for this month is Mortal Kombat X for PS4, XO and PC. I am a big fan of fighting games and this one looks to be the most brutal and bloodiest Mortal Kombat game to date. Plus, who doesn't love to pull of the fatalities? Just don't let kids play it.
XO owners rejoyce, State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition comes out on the 28th, I loved State of Decay, but I am sad that there is no co-op gamemode as that would make the game more enjoyable. Also the XO edition sees that some hidden art assets are removed. Here is a link to the story - State of Decay art assets removed.

No release date yet but Goat Simulator will be released for the 360 and XO this month, so look out for that. Hope you all have a nice week and till next time.

My song of the week is Hero by Pegboard Nerds. I like the beginning the most, then it kind of turns into a dance song which I don't mind but if the song just kept the same vibe as the beginning minute the song would be so much better. Check it out below.
