You're pretty good....

Its time for another top 5 list. This week it is about my favourite Boss Fights.
#5 is one of the saddest boss fights of all time. If you've played Dark Souls you'll know why. At #2 we see Sif, the Great Grey Wolf. Firstly he is a wolf, and they are awesome. Secondly he is only honouring his dead master and trying to stop you from befalling the same fate. Finally when Sif is nearly dead, he starts limping. Sure you needed the ring but it is still a sad boss fight.

#4 is weird. It's one of my favourite bosses who is from one of my least favourite games. I wasn't really a big fan of Far Cry 3 but Vaas is one of the most likeable bosses. Sure he kidnaps you and tries to kill you 3 or 4 times but he is still one of my favourite bosses. There is just something about his level of crazy that makes him a good boss and when you have to kill him it is creative and weird.

#3 is the very first boss battle I played. The giant snake from Resident Evil 1. It turns out it's name is "Yawn" and though it may not be the toughest boss around, when I was a kid it was tough. I mean, it killed (or almost depending on your puzzle skills) one S.T.A.R.S member and it probably killed you multiple times before you learned how to beat it.

#2 is The Joker from Arkham City. The Joker is one of the most iconic villains in Comics, Movies and Video Games. So it was sad when you killed the Joker in Arkham City. We love to hate The Joker and Batman is nothing without The Joker. It was a big shame to see the guy die but you know, he carries on in Batman's nightmares. Also the battle is crazy, so many grunts that throw things at you and on occasion, cars come flying out of the gates.

#1 is kind of obvious. I'm a big Metal Gear Solid fan. So my favourite boss fight is the fight with The Boss. It was a master piece of a fight. You and your mentor. 10 minutes to defeat The Boss. All your training from other the other boss fights come together for this last fight. Snake picks loyalty for his country over his mentor to later learn the truth and abandon the USA.

I'd love to mention Deus Ex: Human Revolution but the boss battles were poorly made and to beat them you had to be cheesy.

This weeks song is "Ultimate" by the very talented DaPlaque. DaPlaque is only about 18 and he already makes better EDM music than most professionals in my opinion. This is his debut song with a record label. Check it out below and until next week.

The New Black Gold

In a future, where people didn't ask for this and stuff gets messed up. Only one man can stop a fiasco. Armed with his sunglasses (which he wears indoors) and a trench coat, Adam Jenson is that man, or what ever he counts as.

Okay. So I watched the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided E3 trailer and was like "I need to play Human Revolution" so I did. I downloaded Human Revolution and within 2 days, it was completed so here is the review. As you can probably tell from the opening it is set in the future where robotics allow people to get replacement limbs, say a robotic arm and these limbs can get "augmented".

*SPOILERS.... Kinda.... Maybe if you haven't played the game.*
You start out the game as human Adam Jenson, the chief of security of Sarif Industries. Sarif Industries gets attacked by some "Augs" (people with robotic limbs) and Adam is left in a near death state while love interest Megan and her team are killed.

After about 6 months Jenson is back, with about 75% of him now being robotic and there is a problem, someone has broken into a Sarif Industries factory. You've got to deal with this. After that you are tasked with tracking the people who attacked Sarif Industries.
*END OF SPOILERS.*

So with that out of the way, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a fun game. Its got a nice art style, a nice black and gold title hence the title. Its a 1st person shooter with cover mechanics. Its mission based with open world aspects.

You choose how you want to do a mission. Want to do a pacifist run? You can do none lethal take downs and use a stun gun and a tranq gun (you'll also get an achievement!). Want to go in guns blazing? Sure, there are a lot of ways to kill things. Whether it be with an AR, stabbing someone with your elbow blades or pushing them off a ledge you can kill people in funny and creative ways. There is even a side mission where you have to kill someone by making it look like an accident.

The game is not without its flaws though. The game does have a hard mode which I do not recommend doing on your first run through (I regret nothing though). Also the bosses are done poorly and some times you have to exploit the game. There is also a section which makes it almost impossible to complete a boss fight.

Overall I'd say this game is worth buying and picking up, especially since it is really cheap now. You won't regret it. And until next time.

This weeks song is "The New Black Gold". I know I featured this last week but I didn't think I'd review this game. So.... yea. Here it is again. Enjoy?

A look at July

So, its boiling in England. Like hotter than we're use to. Luckily we just got thunder and lightning. So here is a look at the month of July.

The most noticeable thing this month is that Windows 10 will be releasing on the 29th. I'd recommend waiting a couple months before installing Windows 10 however.

On the 7th Skullgirls 2nd Encore will release for PS4. I have never played a Skullgirls game so I have no opinion on it. However if you are a Skullgirls fan and don't own a PS4, you might have to give this game a miss.
On the 8th we see Worms World Party Remastered coming to PC only. I love Worms games. They are funny and easy to play, it's a shame though how it isn't on Consoles as I think they'd work well on Consoles.
On the 10th we see F1 2015 release. I love F1 games, there is something about driving a fast car around a track that I love. The F1 games capture the essence of being an F1 driver.
Finally, the only other notable release would be God of War III remastered for PS4. I haven't played a God of War game but they look like fun hack-n-slash games.

This month doesn't have any titles that have been heavily advertised and we can expect that for the next couple months. Its a shame but it allows reviewers to focus on one game or review classic games.

This weeks song is "The New Black Gold" by miracleofsound. If you don't know what the song is about, it is based off Deus Ex: Human Revolution which I completed yesterday for the first time. It really fits with the game's feeling. Anyway until next time.

(P.S from now on I'll be releasing blogs on the 1st, 8th, 15th 22nd and the 29th. This means I have a date to focus a blog on, instead of releasing them randomly through out the week)

Stand to attention....

This week I am going to do a Top 5 list. A Top 5 on the best soldiers in video games, in my opinion. I'll only be talking about soldiers in video games I've played.

At #5 Chris Redfield enters. He worked for S.T.A.R.S and later BSAA. While S.T.A.R.S is a part of the RCPD (Raccoon City Police Department), BSAA can classify as a military organization due to the nature of their work. While they are one organization they do have different teams for different locations, such as the Europe BSAA or the Far East BSAA, it seems that Chris' team goes over the world. Chris Redfield as been to Africa, China and Europe.

At #4 it's Chains from the Payday series. The reason I picked him is that in his back story it is said that Chains has been in the military for 10 years. The fact that he is vet means he is instantly a bad-ass and means he is well suited to be a heister. He also has ties to the cameo character, John Wick who is also awesome (unfortunately not Keanu Reeves in the game).

At #3 my favourite alien, Garrus. Personally I prefer Garrus as a character over Shepard. Shepard did save the universe from the reapers but lets be honest, Garrus is a bad-ass. Smart and deadly with a sniper, Garrus also loves making calibrations. Him, Mordin and Liara are the only characters I wouldn't want to die in the series.

At #2 is the super soldier, 117. Yes in the 2nd spot, Master Chief resides. John was chosen for the Spartan program at the age of 6, and out of 150 candidates John and 74 others were conscripted into the UNSC. In the HALO storyline John is currently AWOL, and on the 27th of October we'll see why he went AWOL.

Finally, at #1 is the one and only, Big Boss, aka Naked/Venom/Punished Snake (Or one of his many other names). Its obvious why. He is probably the most iconic soldier in video game history. He survived radiation from a Davy Crockett, he stopped WW3, he is the "father" to Solid, Solidus and Liquid Snake. Not to mention that he also developed CQC with The Boss. We will finally get to see his story end on September 1st.

This weeks song is "New Order" by Elegia. You might recognise it from the MGS V E3 2015 trailer. This song sends chills down my spine and I think it is a good song. This proves that not all songs need lyrics to convey emotions. Check it out below and until next week o7.

E3 Roundup

All the E3 presentations are over. So lets do a round up of what we saw, what I am hyped for and what went wrong.
Firstly, Bethesda. They showed a lot of game play of Fallout 4. They nailed it. Showing off the right amount without giving too much away. They nailed it so hard. Here is a video of their presentation below because it is worth watching it all. Trust me.

Next, I watched most of the Ubisoft presentation and they did good. They showed The Division PVP, Rainbow Six: Siege and some other games including the secret reveal, Ghost Recon: Wildlands and if you know me you know I am a massive Ghost Recon fan. The only bad thing was Just Dance, its not my type of game and it was a boring segment. Here is the Ghost Recon reveal trailer below.

I heard that the EA conference was okay, with the only noticeable thing being the Battlefront game play trailer, however I am sceptical about it since EA are publishing it and DICE are making it. I also heard that the Nintendo conference was the worst one there this year.

Finally, the Sony and Microsoft conferences. I stayed as far away from them as possible due to past E3 conferences, however I did hear at the Forza reveal Microsoft dropped a car into the centre of the stage which is pointless. One bright side at the Microsoft conference is that it was confirmed that Fallout 4 PC mods will also work on PC. Finally, PC Gamer held the first ever PC gaming conference which was okay.

So all round the conference was good. So that being said this weeks song is Friction by Imagine Dragons. You might recognise it from the Ghost Recon trailer above, and that's one of the reasons this is my song of the week. That and its a good song to listen to. Check it out below and until next week o7

Its all over......

Okay admittedly I haven't got a new game to review, I am waiting till the steam summer sales before I get new games and I might do quick reviews of them.

So. Fallout 4 reveal. It was a big announcement last week. Fallout being my favourite RPG series this announcement was amazing. From all the false hype built up around the Survivor2299 hoax I was reluctant to believe that this was real. As soon as I saw that a screenshot was leaked an hour earlier on the website I was ready on the Betheda twitch for the reveal.

The trailer looks nice, though some people don't like it because it looks "too cartoony" or "too colourful". I think that a bright Fallout game is what we need, its why on Fallout New Vegas I installed mods that made the sky look brighter and the world look clearer.

Many have analysed some aspects and theorised over the trailer. If you want to stay up to date with Fallout 4 (or MGS V) watch YouTuber YongYea as he does videos regarding those games. From the small trailer Yong has managed to extract so much information, such as that the world looks to be seamless and you can upgrade your pipboy.

All I know is that Bethesda is going to make A LOT of money off this. I am waiting for Bethesda's E3 presentation where we will see more information about the game (hopefully).

So are you interested in Fallout 4? Have you seen the trailer? If you haven't its embedded below.

So, my song of the week is a song from an old game that I use to play called "Parasite Eve 2" called "Forbidden Power" check it out below. And until next week.

A look at the month of June

So. Its June now. Its near the end of the College Year for me. I will be leaving College for the holidays in 4 weeks time. Yay!

Anyway, lets look at the week ahead.

I just wanted to point out that 2K have announced XCOM 2, check out the article that PC gamer released here: XCOM 2 Announcement. I'm hyped for it but unfortunately for anyone who enjoyed XCOM: EU on console, its only been announced on PC so far.

Hatred released today on PC. Hatred is a ultra violent cop and civilian killer game, some comparing the level of violence to that of A Clockwork Orange. Its on a list of games I want to try because its got a lot of positive reviews on steam.
The next big release this month is Heroes of the Storm, aka Blizzards MOBA to contest with LoL and DoTA, on the 2nd. Its ironic since DoTA was made in Warcraft 3, which is a Blizzard game but Valve made a team to make the 2nd installment. Heroes is the 2nd MOBA that I've enjoyed playing, the first being Smite. Heroes is out for PC and Mac.
If you have a PS4 you can get The Escapists on the 2nd also. I've played it on PC and I have to say it is a funny indie game. Though it is an indie game, it feels that it does have some money put behind it. Its worth looking at.
On the 9th you can expect to see The Elder Scrolls Online to be available to buy on PS4 and XO. I played a bit of ESO and I enjoyed it. I don't play it now though as I don't want to pay for it, I got it on a free weekend and I think I already explained my story with the key that I bought (was a key that was sold using a stolen credit card) so if you are looking to get into another MMO that isn't Neverwinter (Neverwinter is better in my opinion because its D&D) then mark the 9th on your calendar.
ITS PAYDAY FELLAS! Well, it is on the 16th when Payday 2: Crimewave Edition hits XO and PS4 with most (or all) of the DLC released for the PC edition of Payday 2. If you have never payed Payday 2, think GTA V Heists but no free roam but more weapon customization and a cool British Character. Payday: The Heist did heist games before GTA V was announced and Payday 2 was released before GTA V Heists were announced (I think, could find any information relating to GTA V Heist announcement).
Finally the 23rd sees Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition and Batman: Arkham Knight release for PC, XO and PS4. DmC 4 is a good game, its not the best but its not the worst. Batman: Arkham Knight sees Rocksteady make a return to the Arkham series. Plus, the Batmobile. Who doesn't want one in real life?

My game of the month is defiantly Heroes of the Storm as a fresh game. Release wise, Payday 2. Seriously, its a game you have to get, its a fun 4 player co-op game with lots of DLC included (22 Paid DLC and over 15 free DLC on PC included in the price on XO and PS4).

My song of the week is "Way to Fall" by Starsailor. If you played MGS 3 you might recognize it. I can't remember if I already put it as one of my songs of the week, but it is worthy of being in for a 2nd week if I already have. Check it out below and until next week!
